Just south of the Denver line, the residential streets east of South Broadway have become one of the metro's most quietly livable pockets. You get walkable coffee, a real dinner scene, a par 3 you can reach on foot, and a direct route west to the foothills, without the price tags or parking battles of the neighborhoods a few miles north. Here's how we'd spend a week living here.

Morning: Coffee Without the Car
South Broadway is the neighborhood's front porch, and the coffee is the first reason to walk over. Kaladi Coffee Roasters (2823 S Broadway) roasts on-site and runs on regulars. A block south, Trompeau Bakery + Cafe (2950 S Broadway) is a French bakery with a patio and live music on Sunday mornings; locals will tell you to get the almond croissant. For a slower morning, Good Girl Cafe & Bookstore, a newer arrival next door to Kaladi, pairs specialty lattes with a well-curated bookstore.
Weekend: Sundays on South Pearl, Saturdays on Broadway
The South Pearl Street Farmers' Market is the area's standing Sunday plan. It fills the 1400 and 1500 blocks of South Pearl with 170-plus Colorado vendors, food, and live music, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through November 8 this season. It's an easy bike ride or a quick drive from north Englewood. Go early, because parking fills fast.
Closer to home, Englewood's Festival Street at South Broadway and Hampden hosts the Old School Cool Vintage Market on second Saturdays through October. On those same Saturdays, the metro's only all-gluten-free farmers market sets up nearby at 333 W Hampden Avenue.
Afternoon: Nine Holes Without the Commitment
The Harvard Gulch Golf Course (660 E Iliff Ave) is a city-run par 3 within walking distance. It's short, affordable, and relaxed, the kind of course where a quick nine after work doesn't eat the whole evening. The surrounding Harvard Gulch Park adds open lawn, a recreation center, a pool, and summer concerts.
Evening: South Broadway's Dinner Row
Englewood's stretch of Broadway has quietly become one of the better dining corridors in the metro, and most of it is walkable:
- Colore Italian Restaurant (2700 S Broadway) is a longtime neighborhood staple for pasta and pizza.
- The Barn South Broadway (3299 S Broadway), next to the Gothic Theatre, does elevated American comfort food at reasonable prices.
- Gallo Italian Supper Club and Bakery and ZOMO sit side by side on the 3400 block. Order dinner at one and cannoli at the other.
- Fellow Traveler (3487 S Broadway) is the pick for creative plant-based plates and cocktails.
- The Gothic Theatre puts one of Denver's classic concert venues within walking distance.
When You Want the Mountains
Hampden Avenue (US-285) runs west from the neighborhood straight toward the foothills. Red Rocks is about 30 minutes away outside rush hour, and Evergreen isn't much further. For I-70 trips, I-25 is just a few minutes north. Many of the newer homes here are built with rooftop decks, so on clear evenings the Front Range view comes to you.
Getting Around
Downtown Denver is roughly 15 to 20 minutes by car, and the Englewood light rail station is about a mile away for game days and car-free commutes. The University of Denver and Washington Park are each about a 10-minute drive.
Why Buyers Are Looking Here
North Englewood offers a mix of original bungalows and newer modern townhomes, with walkability that's hard to find at this price point closer in. For buyers priced out of Platt Park or Wash Park, it's often the neighborhood that checks the most boxes.
